Stunning Sierras

The wonderful weather this week in Andalusia, so clear and bright, has provided us with amazing views of the Sierras that surround our home.  Each time we drive on the winding road down the A-4154 road towards Loja we can’t help but be stunned by the views towards the Sierra Nevada mountains and the lower Sierra de Loja.

At nearly 3500m high the peaks of the Sierra Nevada are often hidden in the clouds and covered in snow.

This photo is taken around fifty miles away from the mountains, so the weather and seasons affect the view dramatically, with miles upon miles of olive trees and asparagus fields inbetween us.

Although the Sierra de Loja (peaks at 1671m) are much lower than the Sierra Nevada they can still be engulfed by clouds and mist.  On this particular day, those white fluffy clouds were well below the peaks of the Sierra and clinging to the olive groves, making a magical view.
