Sierra de Loja
If you are brave enough you can drive up the steep, unsealed track to visit the Sierra de Loja. As we see the wind turbines from miles away, we were keen to take a picnic up to the top and explore. Located high above the town of Loja, in the Granada province of Andalucia, the Sierra de Loja is a karst barren landscape. An area of limestone rocks disintegrated by underground water, full of natural drainage systems, sinkholes and caves making the area ideal for potholing and climbing. Due to the area’s remoteness and it’s high open vantage point, there are two take off sites for gliding and nineteen wind turbines (Parque Eólico).
The summit of Cabras, at 1642 metres above sea level, is the highest point. The area attracts wild cats, mountain goats and birds of prey. It is also a lovely place for a walk, albeit a little windy, on a nice day you are rewarded with some wonderful views of Loja and the surrounding area.
Oh wow, those are amazing views. reminds me of a trip we went on in Cyprus to get to the base of some wind turbines because our daughter was curious to see them. #MySundayPhoto

Thanks, it was mostly a 1st & 2nd gear drive until we got to a speed bump that we didn’t think we could get over, so we walked from there
