Waiting and Exploring

When our family first applied to immigrate to New Zealand we knew we would have to wait. Wait for the the multitude of paperwork boxes to be ticked and for the powers that be to approve our work and student visas. Amazingly three of our visas were approved within a couple of days but we are still waiting as we need to obtain a little more information before the fourth and final visa can be approved. So whilst we wait, we explore.

We walk in the footsteps of my childhood. Live in the house where I was brought up. Play with the same toys that I used to play with and visit the places that I visited, explored and loved when I was a child. Making new memories with our boys.

Our first trip last week was a visit to Ribchester Roman Museum. A fascinating little museum where we learnt all about life for ancient romans and saw a replica of a very rare and beautiful ceremonial roman helmet found on the site in 1796. We were fortunate enough to be treated to some glorious weather mid week. Taking full advantage of the sunshine we headed to an amazing country park in Blackburn, Witton Park. With a huge grounds of almost 500 acres and three fantastic playgrounds to explore the boys were in their elements. “This is the best park we have ever been to” praise indeed from our boys.

We also ticked off a walk that we have been wanting to complete as a family for far too long and finally conquered atmospheric Pendle Hill. Known as one of the most haunted sites in England, The location of a Bronze age burial site and once home to Lancashire’s famous witches. So close to Halloween! Would we become possessed like Derek Acorah did on Pendle by  witch Alice Nutter live on TV? Ha ha. Was this a good idea? …….Absolutely, we opted for the 5 mile circular walk from Barley village. Although the ascent was rather steep, the view at the top was well worth it, stunning.
